About the course
Learn to train dogs, and to teach their owners
The ISCDT online dog trainer certification course is designed to give you as much hands-on experience as possible. You keep a video diary of your work and share it with your mentor, so you get real feedback, not just reading.
You’ll learn step-by-step how to train dogs, how canine behavior works, and how to communicate training to clients so they can keep it going at home. The program goes beyond the courses offered by many national and international dog training certification organizations.
Our trainers at Sublime K9 have been training dogs on Long Island since 2002. Working alongside in-home trainers lets you see best practices in live situations, and we’ll guide you on moving your career forward.

How long does the dog trainer certification course take?
It’s self-paced, so you set the timeline and can work around your job and schedule. You complete written coursework and keep a video diary of your training work, which you share with your mentor.
Is the course fully online?
The coursework, training materials and instructional videos are online. You also get hands-on experience working alongside Sublime K9’s in-home trainers on Long Island.
What certification do I earn?
The written coursework leads to the CDT (Certified Dog Trainer) designation through ISCDT – Dog Trainer Program.
Will I get support while I study?
Yes. You can reach our trainers by text, phone and email, and you’ll get guidance on launching and growing your own dog training business.
