Obedience is the foundation of a great relationship with your dog, and good manners make everyday life easier. We teach both in your home, then build them up until your dog listens in the real world.
Obedience training is fun and necessary for dogs of all breeds, even the little ones. It gets your dog thinking and learning, which means less boredom and fewer problems. Done right, your dog should be tired after a session and look forward to the next one.
Most owners are juggling work, the home, kids and everything else, and building reliable commands takes structure and practice. Our trainers have studied and practiced the right way to teach obedience so that your dog’s response to each command is absolute.
Every Sublime K9 graduate learns these commands. We use them as the foundation to fix problem behaviors, build your relationship with your dog and create balance and respect at home.
The core commands
They look simple, but taught the wrong way they take far more time and effort. A truly obedient dog understands all five and responds right away.
Sits on the first cue, with or without a treat.
Lies down calmly and settles when asked.
Holds position until you give the release word.
A reliable recall, even when something is more interesting.
Walks at your side instead of pulling ahead.
How it works
We meet you and your dog, learn your goals, assess temperament and talk through methods and cost.
Your trainer recommends a program. Most dogs need 5–10 lessons, depending on the dog and the issues.
40–50 minute lessons, weekly or bi-weekly. Each one builds on the skills from the last.
As your dog progresses, we move to busier places like a pet store so commands hold up anywhere.
Tailored to your dog
Every program is customized after the evaluation. Depending on your goals, sessions may cover:
Dog manners
Nothing is more impressive than visiting a friend and meeting a well-trained dog with good manners. Now imagine that dog is yours.
A good dog with bad manners can lead to an unhappy life for both of you. Most dogs don’t know how to live by human standards; they need to be taught. Our programs quickly teach you and your dog how to work together and live in harmony.

Obedience is the core commands: sit, down, stay, come and heel. Manners are how your dog behaves day to day, like not jumping on guests, counter surfing, pulling on walks or nipping. We teach both together, and every program is tailored to what your dog needs after the free evaluation.
Formal obedience training is the key to preventing, correcting and modifying most unwanted behaviors. It gives you and your dog a clear way to communicate that you both understand, and the tools for a lifelong, healthy bond.
